Copyright in stories and artwork belongs to
their creators. When a book is published, the creator licenses the
publisher to reproduce the book (for a fee or royalty), but does
not sell copyright to the publisher.
In some cases, when paying fees or royalties, if appropriate, families
or communities will also be considered. With the help of local solicitors
and national Professional Associations we have developed appropriate
effective contracts.
In most cases, when books are of a promising quality, Black Ink
will cover the cost of publication. In some cases, Black Ink works
in co-publishing partnership with a community group who contributes
to the costs. In these cases it will write an ownership agreement
with those involved. |
