Belinda Kabai comes from Saibai Island in the Top Western Torres Straits.

She comes from a family of six children and is currently living in Cairns, studying Visual Arts at the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE.

When Belinda made the illustrations for Aukam, she was part of a group that practised and exhibited art at Mura Buway Yoepkazil Art Centre on Saibai Island.

Belinda used coloured pencils and ink to create these illustrations. She is hoping to illustrate another book in the near future.
